This is an awesome antique Victorian or early 20th century bandanna scarf or handkerchief. Made of lightweight cotton sateen fabric, the vintage bandana has an aqua and off-white border of interlocking dots (almost like a print of sequins sewn on with thread). The large central motif is small interlocked rings. It's an unusual print for a bandana, and is finished with a super-narrow machine sewn hem around all sides.
Pre-owned, genuine antique bandana, it's been used and does have brown rust or ?? stains. I tried to wash it carefully but the water turned blue immediately so I rinsed it fast and grabbed a towel to soak up excess water before the color could have a chance to bleed. I got super lucky and prevented a dye disaster!
Measures 18" x 19 1/2" but the fabric is off-kilter- it lays crooked when flat. On a modern bandana this can be fixed with gentle pulling from opposide sides but I wouldn't think of doing this on a bandana this age.
