This is a set of vintage Trafalgar suspenders or braces in a bold black & white checked or checkerboard woven pattern. I'm not sure what the fiber content is on the supple woven checked part but the tabs are leather and the hardware is brass.
 
In good pre-worn condition but there's slight tarnishing on the brass surface.
